Rosatom's Fuel Division plans to open implantation training centers for orthopedic traumatologists

Rosatom Metal Tech LLC presented medical devices for osteosynthesis and took the initiative to create professional training centers.

The South-Russian Orthopedic Scientific and Educational Forum with international participation, the Congress of Orthopedic Traumatologists of the South of Russia, was held in the city of Yessentuki, Stavropol Territory.

During the event, Rosatom Metal Tech LLC (an integrator company of Rosatom's Fuel Division in the Metallurgy area) presented a wide range of implants and medical instruments for traumatology and orthopedics.

Rosatom Metal Tech LLC will meet the demand of the healthcare market for medical products for traumatology and orthopedics. In 2023, a subsidiary, Rosatom Implantat LLC, was established, at the facilities of which the production of implants for osseous and intraosseous osteosynthesis, as well as tools for their implantation, is being set up. The plant will produce at least 140,000 units of implants annually. There are more than 3,000 nomenclatures of medical devices for osteosynthesis in the product line-up. The degree of localization of the implants will reach 90% due to own raw material base.

Semyon Slezov, Head of Medical Materials and Technologies Department at Rosatom Metal Tech LLC, stressed that in addition to providing the domestic healthcare market with high-quality implants of own production, the company sets an ambitious goal - to create educational centers for aspiring and practicing orthopedic traumatologists.

"Our task is not only to manufacture high-quality medical products, but also to comprehensively develop the competencies of domestic surgeons. To this end, it is planned to develop a comprehensive system for training and professional improvement of medical specialists, covering theoretical knowledge and practical skills of working with the latest developments. Special attention will be paid to the prevention of possible risks and the correct solution of problems in case of postoperative complications," said Semyon Slezov.

Experts participating in the professional discussion agreed on the need for joint participation of doctors and engineers in the development of new medical devices for osteosynthesis, contributing to improving the quality of medical care for patients.

"Modern medicine needs a close integration of advanced engineering solutions and clinical experience. Joint design of medical devices allows doctors to directly influence the development process, taking into account the specifics of real clinical situations. Only a joint approach will make it possible to create truly effective medical devices that meet modern medical requirements," commented Vadim Dubrov, Head of the Traumatology, Orthopedics and Disaster Medicine Department, Faculty of Fundamental Medicine, Lomonosov Moscow State University.
